Osseointegration Foundation exemplifies commitment to excellence
Implant therapy has been widely acknowledged as a catalyst of change in the lives of patients by enhancing their oral health and self-confidence. Furthering the advancements in this field depends on widespread financial support to continue building excellence in the practice of implant dentistry. The Osseointegration Foundation (OF) forges ahead in its mission to support research and education that promote the pursuit of knowledge and skills which, in turn, enrich the field in numerous ways.
Through generous support from its existing community of donors, the following initiatives were successfully achieved in 2022:
- A cumulative total of nearly $150,000 in Basic, Translational and Clinical, we well as Restorative Science Grants were given to dental academic faculty and students pursuing groundbreaking implant research.
- $25,000 in Travel Grants were provided to international students who presented research abstracts at the AO Annual Meeting in San Diego.
- $60,000 in funding for charitable grants was offered to member clinicians, affording life-changing implant therapy to patients with severe dental trauma.
- The AO facilitated an increase in the Clinical Innovations Award from $500 to $1,000.
Were you aware that sharing monetary generosity can come with benefits that extend beyond the emotional satisfaction of charitable giving? Here are some strategies to help you maximize the tax benefits of you philanthropy:
- If you won stock, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities that have appreciated over time, consider donating them to the Osseointegration Foundation. You may be eligible for a tax deduction for the gift’s full market value and avoid paying capital gain taxes.
- If you are age 70 or older, consider making a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA. With this option, you can transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to the OF without having to pay income taxes on the money.
- If you itemize deductions on your tax return, consider using cash to make a year-end gift or pay off a pledge. As you plan ahead, note that the standard deduction will increase in 2023.
