AO and the Osseointegration Foundation (OF) foster the highest standards of excellence by providing members and dental professionals around the globe key avenues to present their research.
Key research funding, presentation opportunities available via the Academy
The Academy of Osseointegration (AO) has key upcoming opportunities for dental professionals and students on the leading edge of evidence-based dentistry who are interested in research grant funding and presenting their groundbreaking dental implant research.
First, applications for the Osseointegration Foundation’s (OF) 2019-2020 Research Grants program are now being accepted. Funded by OF, the philanthropic arm of AO, two research grants will be awarded this year. The AO/OF Research Grant Committee will review all applications and award $30,000 to the best proposals in the following categories:
- Basic Science: Research to advance implant knowledge that does not include human subjects.
- Applied Science: Research to advance clinical implant dentistry that does include human subjects.
To qualify, research grant applications must be submitted by an AO member, faculty member or student who conducts research in any academic dental institution (with at least one person on the research team an AO member). Applications that address areas of research to enhance public acceptance of implants are welcome and encouraged.
Applicants will be informed of acceptance of their proposals in March 2019 via email. First place awardees will be required to present their research at AO’s 35th Annual Meeting (to be held March 19 – 21, 2020 in Seattle, WA). In addition, all awardees must submit a manuscript to the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants (JOMI), AO’s official scientific journal, no later than December 31, 2020.
The deadline for submitting OF Research Grant applications is Friday, December 14, 2018 via email to email@example.com. To learn more about submitting an application, and/or to review conditions of the grants and details about the application review and selection process, please visit AO’s website, osseo.org
Also, don’t forget about the opportunity to present your research at AO’s 2019 Annual Meeting! As previously announced, abstracts are being accepted for Clinical Innovations, Oral Research (Scientific and Clinical), and Electronic Poster (Scientific, Clinical and Case Studies) presentations.
Student and professional researchers in the field of implant dentistry have until Friday, October 5, 2018, to submit their abstracts of original research and clinical cases. For the second year, OF, with support from Anker Dental Implant Systems, will award 25, $1,000 Student Travel Grants to recipients of the top scoring student-submitted oral research and e-poster abstracts.
There are no submission fees for abstracts and there is no limit to the number of abstracts you can submit. To submit an abstract and to review the full Call for Abstracts document and guidelines, please click here: https://osseo.org/2019-research-abstract-submissions/.
