Holds programmatic and procedural authority within the parameters and resource allocation established by the Board of Directors.

• Policy authority is limited to making recommendations to the Board of Directors.

General Duties:

• Oversee emerging leaders applications, presentations and award nominations, selection, and notification processes.

Specific Responsibilities

• Establish Application Guidelines and Award Criteria for the Best Emerging Leaders Award.
• Promote and evaluate nominations for award finalists.
• Review applications, make presenter selections and determine final winner of Best Emerging Leaders presentation.
• Develop a report to the Board of Directors informing them of Emerging Leaders selection.
• Assist with award presentation at Annual Award Ceremony.

Composition

The committee shall be comprised of the Chair and as many members as deemed necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Committee. Members are selected by the chair in consultation with the President-elect and approved by the Advisory Committee on Committees.

Term

• Three-year term, eligible for renewal

Note: Initial appointments are intentionally staggered , with three volunteers serving a one-time three-year term, and two members serving two-year term.

Proposed timeline:

• AO Annual Meeting Registration opens: Applications open
• January 7: Application deadline
• Early-January: Staff compiles all applications and shares them with Emerging Leaders Committee members for review and scoring
• Mid-January: Emerging Leaders Committee reviews and discusses scores and selects finalists to attend the Annual Meeting and participate in the Emerging Leaders session; staff sends out invitations to finalists
• Annual Meeting: Finalists present their cases in the Emerging Leaders Session and Committee makes their selection for the Best Emerging Leaders presentation
• Winner presented award during Awards ceremony
