Academy of Osseointegration's global efforts reach Shanghai for first time
Arlington Heights, Ill., September 27, 2017 –The Academy of Osseointegration (AO) successfully made its first strides to partner with the Chinese dental community this past weekend via its China Outreach Symposium.
Held in Shanghai, the AO Symposium on September 23, 2017 was in conjunction with the China Stomatological Association’s (CSA) 19th Annual Meeting and in partnership with the BYBO Dental Group. Headquartered in Beijing, BYBO is the leading and largest national dental group in China with 210 branches in nearly 60 cities across the country. It integrates oral dentistry, medical institution investment, denture processing, medical appliances and marketing.
“On behalf of BYBO Dental Group, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Academy of Osseointegration and to speakers of AO who came from afar,” said Prof. Feng Deng, BYBO Dental Group CEO. “It was our privilege to be the co-organizer of the Symposium, which is in line with BYBO’s vision of going global. BYBO would like to deepen the cooperation with AO in the future and promote the healthy development of the medical industry in China.”
The schedule of impressive international speakers at the Symposium included the following AO members:
- Digitally Enhanced Implant Dentistry: Workflows and Design
- David Guichet, DDS (AO Fellow, Orange, Calif.)
- Do Dental Implants have a Healing Specturm?
- Brian Fitzpatrick, BDSc, MDSc (Brisbane, Australia)
- Digital vs. Analog Guided Surgery: Separating the Hype from Reality
- Lambert Stumpel, DDS (AO Fellow, San Francisco, Calif.)
- Digital Treatment Planning in Complex Cases
- James Chow, MBBS, MDS (Hong Kong)
- 7 Keys to Success in Immediate Implant Placement and Loading in the Anterior Maxilla;
- Christopher Ho, BDSc, MDSc (Chatswood, Australia)
- Prevention of Implant Complications: Keys to Success
- Hom-Lay Wang, DDS, MSC, PhD (AO board member and AO Fellow, University of Michigan, USA)
AO President Dr. Michael R. Norton from London, England concurred with Prof. Deng’s statements and further expressed, “AO’s global outreach is a pivotal part of its strategic plan, and China represents the most important pillar of that strategic goal. We are delighted to have partnered with the BYBO Dental Group, who have been invaluable in helping us to get our first meeting off the ground.”
“To have a symposium within the Chinese Stomatological Association annual congress is critical to our acceptance within the Chinese dental community. From this beginning we hope to see a growing awareness of the AO with an increasing presence in China,” Dr. Norton concluded.
Among the more than 180 attendees at the Symposium were many students. “The AO Outreach Symposium is part of BYBO’s perspective to get closely connected with world’s leading implant concepts and technologies. After six hours of learning, I know more about the advanced technologies and concepts on diagnosis and treatment, which largely widens my horizon on the complicated cases in future clinical works,” said one student.
“It’s a real privilege to be attending this high-level international academic symposium,” said another attendee.
Held September 21- 24 at the National Exhibitions and Conference Center, the CSA Annual meeting was expected to draw more than 20,000 dentists and trade professionals from China and Asia, as well as over 500 international exhibitors from 20 countries and regions as part of the China Dental Show.
